That I don't know how to bundle a baby.
Today, we had the much discussed snow that was predicted on Saturday night - when it was going to be about 75 degrees the next day. Gorgeous day Sunday; people in shorts, t-shirts, and flip flops. We all thought it was quite appropriate that the Memphis weathermen would be predicting snow on Tuesday. Everybody's sick anyway, why not?
Of course we (that includes SuSu) wanted Charlotte to go out and experience the very rare snowstorm; but Jessica called and was alarmed, adamant, anxious, and very much against the idea. TOO COLD, she said.
Come oooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnn. This isn't my first day on the job.
Mary and I had her dressed in her own clothes and shoes, then added: plastic bags and socks over her feet, a sweatshirt over her body, purple gloves on her tiny hands, a scarf-hat with a hat over that, and another scarf/muffler. More importantly - I guess Jessica will have to experience this first hand - the greater amount of time and trouble you go to to prepare a child for an activity directly correlates to the infinitesimal amount of time they will spend engaged in that activity. We were outside for approximately one and one-half minutes. . . .
In fairness, Charlotte would have 'engaged' for a lot longer, but any time her feet are on the ground in a wide open space there is going to be frantic chasing going on; Mary and I hadn't bundled ourselves up enough for that game.
Look closely and you MIGHT see the SNOW; don't just concentrate on the VERY WARM baby:

And just how is one able to not concentrate on the very warm baby when said baby is that adorable???
That is ridiculous. I took her in the snow for 1 minute last year and it took like 30 minutes to get her dressed.
THE POINT was that I did not send clothes/shoes that were for that level of cold.
Now my baby is on the internet looking like a bag lady. You should have Christopher photoshop in a shopping cart full of newspapers.
The "POINT" that you did not send cold-level- appropriate, personal clothing is no point at all. We get creative, we improvise - - that's what we do around here.
I guess Christopher agrees with YOU; he saw the pictures and gasped and asked why we didn't go in the BACKyard.
I say she's cute NO MATTER what.
Come on people. That, meaning baby Charlotte of course, is the cutest thing ever!!! How could you think of denying her the pleasure of playing in the "snow"? Well, it wasn't really that much snow, but it was pretty. I think she looks adorable, bags and all.
I forgot to say...I think Mary and Jenny did a great job of bundling the little one. Keep up the good work.s
THANK YOU!!
Also, that was not SNOW, it was rainy sleet.
That is hilarious. Jessica informed me that you were planning to take Charlotte out despite the fact that she had not sent warm clothes. I'm pretty impressed with how you improvised. She does look like a bag lady...but a very cute one =).
And thank you, Lyndsey. We DO improvise well, and we DO think that even bag ladies are cute...
very cute
Look at the smile on her face. You can tell she is having a blast. You are giving her good balance. Why miss the fun just because you don't have "appropriate" clothes. Bravo!
