THIS BIRD

>> Saturday, March 8, 2008

This is Ginger's new parrot. It was the most colorful thing I might have ever seen, and was without a doubt, the LOUDEST, screeching-ist animal I've EVER heard. He was friendly and excitable; I couldn't quit watching him, but I should have had earplugs and sunglasses!

If I remember / understood correctly, this screamer is a Sun Conure.  I know very little about birds and parrots, and I thought they could all talk, but not this guy.  At best, he can be trained not to scream so loud, so often.

Apparently, you have to get an African Grey (not so pretty and colorful as this bird) if you want a bird to chat with;  or maybe a Quaker Parrot.

Ginger's got it covered with a talker though, as she also has a sweet young  cockatiel, (like Sharon's birds), and that one can learn to 'speak'.

Stumbled in and just wanted to say hi. That bird is lovely and so is the photos.

I would like to invite you to leave a comment on my blog. At my blog I ask people to tell me about their day in seven words or less. Just leave me a comment with your seven words, you can do it anonymously. If you'd rather not, then have a nice day.

He's very colorful! I've always wanted a parrot but unfortunately I've been outnumbered in that desire. LOL Maybe someday.

C.C., love that blog and idea! I wasn't very creative with my first comment, but I'll be back.

Robin; I'd like a parrot too, but I think I'd want someone else to take care of it. They really fascinate me, but they also scare me a little, :)

I've heard that certain types of parrots can bite one of your fingers off.... Scary indeed!!
