If I write it down
>> Monday, April 28, 2008

I've created a simple menu plan for this week, and I'm joining others who link theirs through organizing junkie.
I'm going to start tallying the cost of individual meals, but right now I'm using as much of the food I have on hand as possible, so I won't be able to at first.
I can tell you the value of Monday night's dinner: priceless. It's free to us because it is a homemade chicken pot pie from the neighbors across-the-street. Occasion: I loaned them some celery previously.
If you've read mine or my daughter's blog for long, you know that we have ridiculously great neighbors. ( One of those neighbors, Sharon, hasn't been posted about in a while here, but not because she's been lazy (as if), or because I've been disinterested. No, it's because she decided to create her own blog! This is a super idea, except for the part that a blog doesn't write itself. . . . . . if she doesn't start writing soon, she understands that I have first dibs on her life stories).
Anyway, back to the food:
Monday: Chicken Pot Pie
Tuesday: Black-eyed Peas, Cornbread, Onion
Wednesday: Spaghetti
Thursday: Mexican Chicken Lasagna
Friday: Pizza
This will help me stay on track for the week. Muddy mentioned a problem planning a meal but then not being in the mood for it. I fall into that trap just buying the random makings for meals, but then forgetting about it or not being in the mood to cook a particular something. So, a menu plan means less wasted food in my case.
Here goes!

Yes that is me.
Hope this all goes well for you. I can't wait to hear how it works out.
That Mexican Lasagna recipe has my mouth watering!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I'm looking at your current WORD VERIFICATION "word" and it says, "eomjkhl" which, I believe, is Vietnamese for "Chicken Pot Pie"...or maybe not.
I wish my neighbors would make Chicken Pot Pie for me. In fact, I wish ANYONE would. Blog away new blog friend. Blog like the wind!

Hey BD, 'thanks for visiting' right back; if you need me to contact your neighbors about their lack of food sharing, let me know. : )
Gonna try the mexican chicken lasagna tonight! sounds yummy!!
Hey, Melanie! - if you have the chicken lasagna tonight, you will have had it before we ever have (it's my 'new' recipe for this week); be sure and let us know how it turns out!
Glad to hear from you : )
Yumola!!!
Does making Mexican chicken count if you buy it from the restaurant & put it on your own plate @ home?
Seriously it does sound good. I may have to try it out this summer when I have time to cook real recipes. Ohhh...only 4 more weeks =)
...so sad I didn't see your giveaway!!
Kellie: A meal definitely counts if you take it out of a paper or plastic container and put it on a real plate.
If there are dishes to wash, somebody did some "homecooking" : )
