THE BEAR
We don't employ a Wal-mart greeter at our house, but we do have a very friendly bear at the front door.
She usually stands in the same spot, wearing a golden crown. . .. but she has been known to move around a little and dress for holidays and special occasions.
She's four feet tall, brown, and is handy for waving or holding bags with her flexible arms.
Why? How? You might be wondering.
I can give you the "how", but there is really no "why" except that she looked like she belonged with me.
I was shopping in a florist's wholesale store with someone who needed my van for 'cargo'. It was the most incredible place to shop: bottom floor / outdoors filled with any and all kinds of plants and trees of varying sizes, and the upstairs - full of household decor, accessories, lighting, ribbons, etc. In the very back of the second floor, decked out for a Christmas display (in the middle of summer), was this bear and some of her family.
She's lived with us for a few years now, and has never given us a bit of trouble.
No one's ever been frightened of her, even though I tried to convince the teenagers that she is like one of the bears in Kings, and that they'd better be respectful!! (They didn't fall for it.)
We've never named her, and that sounds a little sad as I tell her story, but she hasn't meant less to us because of it.
I hope you enjoyed this TIMHT, and that you will join us; it's beary simple, just link back here to share!

It is really weird how something so unusual just becomes so normal to you after a while....
I never even notice the large bear.
Also, 7 hours with my baby (2 of which she is asleep) is really no excuse for not blogging for a whole week....
Broken Laptop=excuse
baby=no excuse
Now, that's the coolest thing! Around here, people have geese in their yard that they dress up. I'd much rather have a bear like yours.
We need a button or just a blurb to post on our blogs for Things In My House Thursday to direct people to your blog. In your spare time (HA!) can you do that?
:-P
What fun! Love the crown and the bear is very welcoming!
I'm trying to get my photos uploaded in the midst of internet woes.
Cool bear!! I loved the bulletin board post too.
You do need to get a button :)
I really don't have a lot of random things in my house, just a constant mess of toys. I'll try to participate though. I'm trying to get more involved in the blogging world. So here's my new shower.
I'M GONNA GET A BUTTON!!!!
I meant to have figured that out before the second one; I'll have one for the next one!!!
(Amy, I actually have the time; it's the know-how I'm short on. But I'll find somebody to help!)
I love the bear!!
I do believe my dog, Bayley, however, would bark at it all day. He barks at smiley face balloons-so why not bark at this too?
And BTW, before I saw the comments about you needing a button-I made you one.(if you are interested) I can make it smaller if needed...but it seemed to fit well on my page the way it is.
You have been given a blog award by little ol' me!!!

Looks like a great mascot! Only a little bit scary . . .
