Things In My House Thursday #4

>> Wednesday, August 20, 2008

This is a fairly new addition to our home decor; a little candle lantern that I bought recently at the Farmer's Market. It is hanging in the atrium, on one of the ficus tree branches.

I picked up this bright yellow lantern from a booth operated by a beekeeper. It came with 3 or 4 little (votive size) beeswax candles for only $9.00 !

The booth is interesting because they always set up a display of the real, live bees in action - scary, except that they are housed between sheets of glass; it's like a large ant farm.

I also bought honey - and I can affirm that very fresh, local honey is different (way better) than even the ''best'' (organic, expensive, etc.) store-bought honey. I - and Christopher - can also confirm that local honey consumption really does lessen the severity of outdoor allergies - dramatically.

I've found so many interesting things at the Market this summer - in addition to the great fruits and veggies. I've bought plants, coffee, baked goods, flavored butter, earrings, goat's milk soap and lotion, a bird feeder, Christmas ornament, etc. It's all good!

Do I win a prize for being first?? *wink*

The lantern is adorable! Does he have a website or a way to order a lantern? It would make a great gift!

We have farmer's markets here, but I never go to them. I need to, just see all the great things I am missing out on.

Several of the vendors have websites, like the goat's milk people, but I'm not sure about the honey guy; I'll find out this weekend.

Amy, I'm sure you'd have beat Marilyn if I could've had my scheduled posting working and ready for you this morning. You always have the earliest posts!

Thanks both for participating!!

Thanks for checking, but don't go to any trouble, okay? :o)

Marilyn won fair and square. She deserves all the kuddos. Don't mind me as I sit in the corner and weep...

Pretty lantern. It really blends well there with your plants.
