Kudzu Goat Milk Soap
>> Saturday, October 25, 2008
Went to the farmer's market today; it's wonderful weather for it but there's only one more week.
I buy more coffee (a local roaster), gifts, plants, and prepared food items than I do fresh fruits and veggies; I'm going to miss this little shopping outlet of independent family vendors with their homemade food and handcrafted goods.
Something I enjoy more than I can describe is goat's milk soap and lotion from Covenant Creek Farm. This farm started out in Texas, but now they are in Mississippi.
Of course the products are handmade without chemical foaming agents or detergents or sulfates.
They have the very best 'flavors' and the hardest part about shopping with them is making a final decision! Lavender Oatmeal, Honey / Almond Oat, Sweet Autumn, Brown Sugar Vanilla, Lemon Verbena, Honeysuckle, and more and more and more.
What do I consistently end up with?
Kudzu Bloom.

***Here's a little public service announcement in case you aren't from the south: Kudzu is the ubiquitous Japanese vine that ate the South. It's mostly a nuisance but can be a fascination - with its spreading capability. Somewhere I read that it covers over 7 million acres of the south. We have the perfect climate for it, and it can grow a foot a day!***

Kudzu has a pretty purple flower that I've been told makes great jelly, and the kudzu scent of the goat milk soap is just good and sweet and fresh.

I also bought Charlotte some strawberry kids' soap - made for kids by kids (the whole family is involved on the farm), and another bottle of the best hand lotion I've ever used. The tea tree and cedar soap is for Christopher.
No, I don't work for Covenant Creek or get any kickbacks : ) , I just really like their products!

Don't act like Target won't be there to take you back when the Farmers' Market leaves you.
Ohh . . . Target : P
You know, I still haven't spent my gift card. We all need to plan a trip to Target to help me spend it.
I'm interested in the coffee you buy there...I love the farmers market!
Love your pumpkin and squash photos. Amazing that the vine can grow a foot in a day!
I love these photos! Beautiful! Amazing! :o)
Mmm...fresh roasted coffe, and natural soap, two of my most favorite items!
What a great post! Thinking of coffee and the soap. Wow...I need to check out the site.
Great fall photos, too!
Credit where credit is due: Mary took the pumpkin and squash pics - she has more on her blog.
And it is super cool to have a local, personable, family run coffee roaster!
i just got some goatmilk soap 2 weeks ago and love it! it's amazingly soft!
This soap and / or lotion would make a Christmas great gift for a favored neighbor..... hint hint....
Loved this post. It gave me a "calm" feeling. I cannot do sodium lauryl sulfate in mouth hygiene products, causes terrible canker sores. Anyway, pretty blog you have here!
Thanks 2nd cup! : )
