Grandmother's Rights

I went to Walmart the other day with Jessica and Charlotte.
Charlotte wanted a Little Mermaid baseball cap. Jessica wanted her to want a plain pink one.
I indulged Charlotte; Jessica whined all the way to the cash register, even though she'd thrown the plain one into the shopping cart during her grown-up tantrum. Happy toddler, griping "adult".
Jessica kept asking "Why????"
I just tried to explain that as the grandmother I get to occasionally buy the tacky, trendy, garish things that a toddler wants. I don't have to be practical and matchy and tasteful.
Just one of my perks.

don't let it darken my doorway or you will never see it again.
Here, here Grandma!!
LOL Jessica. You crack me up. I fear if it were to disappear, Grandma might find something worse. ;)
I am learning what it's like to have one's kids want something different from what oneself would choose ... sigh, just one of life's lessons I guess. And I think buying that hat for her must be one of the perks of grandma-hood! :)
(BTW, loved your comments on fundraising - I loved that you thought you could HS cheaper - and I have had the same thought!!)
